I don't know enough about ancient trade routes, but that mint date predates Caesar's expedition by 45 years. I recall vaguely that Britain was a source of trade for tin, so perhaps it's possible that some pre-Caesar coins made it up to the island? Report this Post to the Staff
Augustus Maximus Pillar of the Community Italy 1790 Posts	Posted 03/12/2015 10:59 pm Coins of the Roman Republic circulated until around the time of Emperor Trajan ( I believe he recalled them to be melted down or something of that sorts) . The debased ones ( ex-Mark Antony legionary denarii) are recorded to have showed up in change during the rule of Alexander Severus in the 220s CE. So yes, they could have well circulated in Britian.
