I've been going through all of my coins from Germany and have been able to identify all of them 100% except this one. I bought it on ebay a couple years ago and wrote "Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg" on the holder but it is not in my book so I can not confirm that. You see my book cuts off the ruler of the coin by only 1 year! So I'd appreciate it if one of you could check your books and let me know for sure it is from Saxe-Gotha-... and that its denomination is a 1/48 Thaler(just guessing on that). Thanks in advance-Russell

It is in my Krause as C#15, composed of billon. In VG, this coin has a Krause value of $7.50. My opinion is that your coin is in Good condition. It is a 1/48 Thaler from the state of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg.

Thanks for the help Susan and bulldawg. I guess it was properly identified afterall then. I had no idea it was billon but after looking at it very closely I see that silvery look to it just a little bit. I gotta find me a Krause book that covers the full 18th century. The one I'm using goes from the 1770s to about 1979(1980 edition).
