A buddy of mine just emailed me that he has a 2015 $50.00 U.S. note.
The kicker is the serial #
All 7's
Anyone even seen a 2015 note yet period, never mind a $50.00 ?
If this is legit, then any real premium on it with those all 7's ?

Seems fishy. Have you seen it? If he does and it is real, it could be worth a lot of money.

There would be a huge premium on any legitimate note with a SN of all 7's. However there is no such thing as a 2015 series.

If both the note and the story are authentic, it may be worth perhaps $50 over the face value.

Definitely not a keeper!. The note should immmediately sold for the best premium possible because over time, the face value of the note will decline due to inflation. The premium should retain it's notaphilic value over time, however.

It would have definitely been a keeper, if it had been a ONE dollar note. That is a pity.

If it is a real note it would have a nice but not huge value over face.

With all 7's? It would have a huge premium over face.

As a few people stated above, 2015 notes don't exist (and probably won't). The series only changes every time there's a design change, usually one of the signatures. The latest series printed were 2013 and 2009, so unless the Secretary of the Treasury changes soon, there won't be a series 2015.

@half n a half,

They also change the series year if "both" signatures change.

The series year usually changes if and when one of the four things happens:

A change in the Secretary of the Treasury.

A change in the Secretary of the Treasury AND the Treasurer.

A change in the design of the note.

Or ALL of the above happen at once.

As for if JUST the Treasurer changes:

A suffix letter is added to the current series year.

(Example: Series 2003 turned to Series 2003A, and if there would have been another change in the Treasurer again, and the same Secretary of the Treasury still remained, then it would have been Series 2003B and Series 2003C and so on, well you get the idea...)

I know it would likely never happen, but I wonder what would happen if they got to Series 20?Z. Like I said, I would love to have a Series 2020X $500 note , even though its likely impossible.

All US notes are worth a fortune these days . Ask the rest of the world as our respective currencies tank.

A high U.S. dollar makes U.S. manufactured goods more expensive to buy, relative to Chinese manufactured goods. A high U.S. dollar also makes it more difficult for U.S. exporters.

Or, to put it another way, Chinese manufactured goods will become cheaper to the U.S. consumer, in the medium term.
U.S. manufacturing bussinesses will have to terminate the employment of some of their staff, as their market share shrinks.

Absolute premiums work better on lower face value banknotes.

My buddies wife works in a bank and got it there.
She had called and told him about it. He never got a chance to look at
it as she forgot about it and spent it that day before bringing it home. Oh well ! Date unknown but serial numbers were in order.
