331497089404I had a friend email me about this. I know about this guy from my friend who lives in Gainesville. This Jim Saurman is a real low-life.
This guy is like a scum bag shadow. My friend says never knows when this guy is going to show up. I've heard stories about this guy for years from my pal. He jokes about it but that does not mean it a humorous affair.
He is some 50 year old man who goes around begging for a job and he always has some scam up his leg. I guess he has been saying for yeas that he has coins from his dad in some estate and needs to sell them 'fast'. Consider that red flag #1. He sells laughably dipped coins, counterfeits, 'unsearched rolls' that are a BS, etc.
Let us examine his latest fraud. Look at the 2nd picture of this entire collection. Why is it got like a shadow filter? Because he it is all junk. So why did the scam artists get people to bid over $1000? Well first off people like to bid on a mystery. People always think they are going to find a 1922 High Relief tucked away but that does not get you to $10000.
Look at this third picture. Oh my. This guy collection has a ton of MORGANS!! Holy cow this is worth a killing. $1000 is a steal!!.
If it is too good to be true.....
My friend said he has seen this guy with horribly bad 1882 Morgans with 'cc' mint marks that look like they were glued on so they might be counterfeits but he said he knows what this is. This big list of Morgans is going to be copper-plated fakes.
This insufficiently_thoughtful_person says that ENTIRE collection is just over 22 pounds. Ok well lets do the math.
. Let us just do the Morgans and
Peace dollars. His list comes out to 610 Morgans/Peace dollars.
Morgans and Peace each weigh 26.73 grams.
26.73 * 610 =16305.3 grams.
16305.3 grams to pounds = 35.95 pounds.
Math does not lie.
So the Morgans and Peace alone which are a a fraction of this collection is ALONE over 14 pounds more than he says the collection weighs.
Funny how he claims to have 610 Morgans/Peace yet we get no pictures of all of those. We get ONE picture of 12 of them and then we get half a dozen picture of junk
IHC and Wheaties. Odd huh?
I know I sound like a broken record but can we all please flag this. Click on the link and on the right-hand side of the top of the description is a "Report Item". I think report it for misleading but what exactly is the best thing to flag it for? I am asking all of you
ebay pros.
Auctions like this hurt us all. We have to be more proactive in stopping this stuff. If just a dozen or so of us flag it we can get it removed which will hopefully stop it before the buyer pays or the payment clears. Some of you will say that the buyer has Buyer Protection. Well first off that does no always work. I am not going to go over but there are a FEW ways clever scam artist can get around the Buyer Protection Policy and leave the novice buyer with the *spoon*. Lastly--so what? It still hurts us all. It perpetuates the scam artist to try it again and let's say that the buyer gets his money back. You can bet that this guy will of already taken the money and run. So Paypal will try and collect and fail (My friend says Jim owes more people than there are seashells on Coco Beach) and so guess what? Us, the consumer, eat the cost.
Lets find the best way to flag it and lets just shut it down. It is a small victory for the good guys.
