Does this coin seem to have any corrosion spots on it?

1804 S-266c PCGS VG 10 Draped Bust Large Cent

And what would be a fair price on such a coin? It list's for 4000$ almost in the PCGS price guide online....is that to high, to low or just right?

I wish I could attend U.S coin shows but been that I am from Canada it would cost me just as much for the trip as it would for the coin almost.

A couple weeks ago, an identical type sold for $2820 at Heritage. It wasn't as nice as this one, but it wasn't "half the price" worse. With that said, you're hard-pressed to find these in "good" slabs - many are in Details slabs so previous advice about volatile pricing due to rarity applies here. I don't think this buyer would come down far enough to make it realistic.

The size of the net you're willing to cast - noted from the variety of your questions - indicates a strong likelihood that you are going to come across very good deals eventually. Many of these are rare, but together there are enough on the market for buys to be found.

Do you mean people buy more of the PCGS detail grade over the actual graded ones (ex g to ms)?

This would not be the case at all when dealing with Canadian coins.

That coin should go between $3000 - $3500

The coin has decent surfaces, and could be considered a straight VG8.
However, concerning the price, yes - it is priced too high in my opinion. Max 4K would be more correct. It is also die state C, R-2, the most common die state for 1804 cents. It should carry a smaller premium as such.

I can now see I have a lot to learn before pulling the trigger.
