Hey All,
I just got her today...
What's up with the nose? Did someone do this or has anyone seen this on another cent?
The 1 has been gouged... you can see the left edge of it but the rest has been somewhat gouged off.
Please give me honest opinions.

Looks like some one cut the nose off of Liberty to be funny.

Please forgive me for what I am about to write ...

To answer your question, the coin has been defaced.

(I'm so sorry.)

It looks like there's a scratch/cut running from where the nose was "north" toward the Y in LIBERTY. I'd guess someone removed the nose quite some time ago.

Did someone cut off her nose to spite her face?

Considering the "1" in 1803 has also been damaged, one could assume this coin was either intentionally or accidentally damaged sometime after leaving the mint.
