Did anyone catch the Coin World article on an immediate change to the Cent's metal composition (with other coins to follow suit)? I was going to put some proof sets and silver proof sets up for sale but am now wondering if I shoudn't wait and see if this actually happens. It does generate some interest in me to start collecting proof cents, even if only from the 80's on.

Any thoughts?

I saw where they are trying to pass legislation to order the mint to produce some steel cents, and if that passes they would have to mint these coins within 90 days of it passing. That is all I have heard about this but I do not get Coin World or anything

Changing the composition of the cent to steel, may be the only way to save it.

Interesting. This is the first I've heard of this.

You may be right Thad.

Canada has been using the copper-plated steel cent for a few years now, and they recently put up the results of a survey on whether or not to get rid of the cent altogether. I believe it's the second time they've conducted a survey like this, too.
