This picture is a 1908 nickel, I noticed the rectangular indentions on it. I figured it was post mint but the indentions seem to be evenly spaced so I dont know. Is there anything at the mint that could have caused this?

My grandmother gave this to me. Dont know how long she had it. at first I thought someone was playing target practice with it but under closer inspection found the indention to be square. I'm pretty sure its post mint but wanted to post to be safe.

I believe they are both post mint damaged. Sometimes circulation gets hazardous if they end up in the shop for a modification. Could have been a punch of some type. Doesn't matter what it was, it is a damaged coin.

Thats what I thought. I figured it could be anything since they had about 100 years for someone to decide to "play" with them.

Nickel damaged outside the Mint but how, I can't say.

The cent was likely shot with a bee bee.

Thanks,
Bill
