You are fast Richard....

As you would have gathered from the various discussions in the 2005 World Heritage PNC,buying one is the only way a collector can obtain a plain COA Aussie 50 cents. With only 4 months to go, we are holding our breath to see whether the RAM will mint and issue more of the plain 50 cents. If it does not, with a world wide issue of only 30,000 PNC's, it is expected the price of the PNC will go ballistic.

Great news for Aussie Collectors !!! The RAM is not mintng any of the plain COA (Coat Of Arms)50 cents for general circulation. This means there are only 30,000 of this 50 cents around and it can only be obtained from buying one of this PNC's.Of the very few that was listed on ebay Aus, they were snapped up within minutes of listings appearing.....

One of the ways to beat shortages like this is to subscribe to the mints newsletters, and then act as soon as you get notification of special issues such as this.
Glad I got mine

This issue is a joint Royal Mint (UK)/Royal Australian Mint (Aus) issue. As such, there are two coins in the issue. One is the Aussie 50 cents and the other is the UK 50 pence. Much has been said about the Aussie 50 cents but very little about the UK 50 pence. The Aussie 50 cents is in UNC grade and the UK 50 pence is in BU grade. So far, no one has found out yet what the UK mintage is,it would be real interesting if it is also limited to 30,000...[:p]

Lim
I have a 2004 1 oz Kookaburra
the reverse is the same as the one listed for the specimen Guilded Edition, but my coin is not Guilded.
I can not findit in Maccas, Do you have any info on this coin?
It looks to be Specimen- possibly proof but the reverse dose not match the standard 2004 issue it is the flying Kookaburra + the Kookaburra on a branch.
Need mintage issuse price etc.
Thankx

Hi Richard....

The PM Kooka series is indeed a very confusing series with the proof design of one year becoming the specimen design of the following year.

You are right in saying there is no reference to the non gold gilded 1 oz in Maccas, in fact there is no reference to it in Renniks either, but I do know there is such a coin, I have seen it. I will do some research and see what I can find out.
