Problem Mint is Chip,Gouge,Heavy Die Scratch most every other Die at some point. Maybe they lack Funding by the Gov. I would keep it and keep loading a roll of them. Report this Post to the Staff
Dave42 Pillar of the Community United States 571 Posts	Posted 03/15/2015 10:14 am If you are talking about the line of hair that comes down from the ribbon down to the rim, I would have to disagree about it being a die gouge. I think that is just what the obverse design looked like from at least 1966-1970. All the nickels I have in that date range have that strong bit of hair reaching down to the rim. In 1971 it looks like that hair was redesigned, giving it a less pronounced look. 1964 and before are also less pronounced (I don't have a 1965 to compare). So I think this is just how the obverse dies were designed for that range of years. Dave Report this Post to the Staff
