Now that they've been out for a while, I'm curious to know what the Maple Leaf collectors here think of the RCM's 2015 "security enhanced" bullion coins. I'm mostly interested in how the changes have (or have not) impacted the coin's aesthetics. Like it? Hate it? Would you care to see the same (or similar) features added to the ASE?

I wouldn't say I'm a maple leaf collector, but I have one of the 2014 maple leaf's and like it. I would like the ASE to have some added some security enhancements, for extra security and just for a change!

I thought the milk spots on the Maple Leafs already proved they were authentic.

I agree with you as well Montana...The milk spots are the very reason that I do not own one single Maple Leaf. I sold them all when they started developing the spots.

I have some of the 2015 maple leafs and I quite like them. I like the radial lines it gives some interest to the background.

Great to hear, orfew! I've got a couple of 2015's arriving soon and I'm glad to hear some positive opinions regarding the new look.

Although I don't have any Maple Leaves, I do have one of the 3/4 ounce 2015 wolves, with radial lines in a ring on the reverse and on the entirety of the obverse, and I do like it better than if it'd been normal non-radial.

Hands down, I believe the new look is far superior to the old. I love the holographic look of the radial lines as you turn the coin in your hand. As far as the ASE is concerned, it's a classic, why mess with a good thing?

Quote:As far as the ASE is concerned, it's a classic, why mess with a good thing? Oh, I agree. In a better world, I wouldn't want or expect the ASE to ever change. However, the bad guys seem to be getting better at making fake coins. I was just wondering/speculating about the kinds of security enhancements that may eventually show up on silver eagles. I'm also very glad to hear more positive comments on the new 2015 Maple!

I only own a 2013 rev proof & a snake privy... What are they doing with 2015? Putting etched holograms on all coins now like the 2013 superman first hologram coin? Maybe that superman was a test run for the new hologram technology?

I don't see a difference in design.
