Is the raised crack extending through the second T in TRUST on the pictured 2015 cent an error of numismatic Interest. What increase in value could this error reasonably engender?

Starting a nice die crack. These get real interesting when they reach the other side. They make great markers for variety dies though.

limited numismatic interest and value. Severe cracks or retained breaks will generate more of each, but mainly, if you like cracks then keep them. I usually set a side one or two of interest during a CRH event especially if there are many or the severity is decent (say half way through the coin or beyond).

Regarding the start of this die crack, I have coin examples of this crack in both an earlier and later state. Early examples extend no more than an inch from the device's bottom while later examples extend to Lincoln's forehead. When you say these die cracks become interesting when the reach the other side, do you mean from obverse to reverse, or laterally unto the coin's edge; indeed its third side? Thank you. ''

Nice one : )

An inch would cover the whole penny, I think you are referring to inch on a picture but then again I hope you didn't resize your image in your original post.

I think Coop means end to end across one face, I don't think the crack can be on the edge because the die hits the face and the edge is held in the collar.

Get more boxes of 2015s from your area; see if you can find a progression of the crack and watch it get worse!

I found something like that on a 2011 cent. The planchet I think was bent and then struck.
