Poll Question
I want this thread to facilitate a healthy discussion among bullion collectors/stackers that are interested in the 5-oz size, so here goes.

First off, I know there are many more options out there for silver stackers. However, I want to strike a balance between mintage and premium when do a comparison, so these are the 3 I came up with. I am looking for coins (not bars or round) that has mintage in the range of 50K or less and premium at around $5 to $8 per ounce over spot (comparable to ASE/Maple/Panda/etc.

Let the comparison begin:
Libertad: Mintage range from highest of 21K in 2009 to lowest of 2,401 in 2005. Latest year with final mintage is 2014 at 6400, which is lowest since 2007. Premium at time of issue is around $8/oz. The 2015 coins are going on Pre-Sale right now and many dealers offer them around $120/coin. The 2014 coins had gone up in price, partially because of low mintage and also because of the imminent release of 2015 coins latter this month.

Pro: One of the lowest mintage bullion coins out there.
Con: Same design year over year, despite beautiful design.

Lunar Series II: The Lunar Series II 5-oz coins are mint to demand and you usually can get the final declared mintage from Perth Mint about 1+ year after its release (the latest available is for 2013, Snake, and prior). Dragon was the most popular design with largest mintage of 31,664. Lowest mintage of 3,005 is in 2008, for the Mouse (partially because Series I and Series II is overlap here - same with 2009-Ox and 2010-Tiger). Current year release is 2015-Goat and the price range is around $120/coin. Previous year, 2014-Horse is still available at a slightly higher premium (around $130ish/coin).

Pro: Changing design every year, Perth Mint quality and in its own capsule.
Con: Capsule is not air-tight, demand is highly influenced by Asian market (especially China).

ATB:At the launch of this series in 2010, it was HOT; however, the demand has died down. Highest mintage was in 2011 at 126,700 coins and lowest mintage is at 20,000 for 2012. Current year coins (2014) are in the low to mid 25,000 range. Most of the 2014 coins are available at around $120/coin. Most recent release is the 2015 Home Stead is available at around $96/coin

Pro: MADE IN AMERICA, popular in USA, lower premium, changing design.
Con: Higher mintage, 5-designs/coins per year, harder to keep up if you are on a tight budget, sometime quality can be issue when compare to other series.

What is/are your pick(s)? Which series do you currently own and plan to buy? OR just buy all three series? Do you agree with my assessment. Any other pro/con you want to point out. Which alternate series do you propose - must fit the balance between mintage vs. premium

Happy Discussion

I voted for the 5 oz ATB.

I have only one, am stalking another one. Why the 5 oz ATB over the other coins? I feel they are more liquid than the other two coins will sell faster if one needs to sell.

I voted for the 5oz ATB.

I collect silver proof ATB Quarters so the 5oz "hockey pucks" are a natural fit for my interests. I too currently only own one, a 2012 "El Yunque National Forest." Beautiful coin. There are several others I'd like to add to my collection when I find the right opportunity. Note: like most of my numismatic collection, I do not buy these with any intent to flip or sell in my lifetime.

I choose Libertad, because of the low low mintage and nice design. The uncertainty on mintage of the Libertad intrigue me.

Apparently I'm highly susceptible to influence from my own posts. Bought two more ATB's today and I'm pretty happy about it.

I voted None of the above assuming that the ATB was of the Bullion variety.

If it were of the Collector variety, (w/COA and OGP), vs. the Bullion then I would pick the ATB.

The ATB is bullion version, same as the Silver Libertad bullion version, and the Lunar Series II (considered bullion by Perth Mint but highly collectible).

The boxed ATB's with COA are unlikely to ever fall within the OP's stated price guidelines.

Even if a box and COA doesn't fit the budget, I sill think the BU bullion versions are very interesting and very collectable. There's also some pretty impressive price appreciation, too, on the more popular BU ATB issues.

Beautiful coin, denco! Even if I didn't recognize the Libertad, I'd know that mint mark anywhere.

I voted Libertad. They are taking off like wildfire, 10 years ago I used to pick em up for close to melt, even the kilo sized one and now they always command hefty premiums.

I am looking to order some airtite capsule for mine. I haven't have the time to come around and order them yet (cheaper if I order in bulk, and may be sell off those extra on here or ebay....?)
