I took a quick look: looks like there are at least 8 known varieties. Unfortunately, it's hard to tell from this distance what you have. I'm not seeing MD either, so a closer set of pic's on the MM and surrounding devices would help.

But Coop has a good eye from this distance so the point may be moot.

When a coin is dropped on its edge on a hard surface, it can bend the rim upward. So a mark on the rim might be damage or it could mean something. But it started out the same all round on the coin. This may have occurred in circulation.

Sorry - I'm not seeing anything extra with the pics. But I'm also using my phone at the moment. Nothing more to add.

I think its a Normal coin, the REV is a bit under a VF grade. The Memorial is pretty much Poor.

I agree with Cooper on everything he has wrote about this coin to you.

Do any 1953-D Jefferson nickel RPMs carry substantial premiums? I have seen the RPM #1 (D over inverted D) listed for relatively BIG $$.

Thanks,
Glenn

to the forum GM427. This is an old thread. What you should do is start a new one. Go to the top of the page and click "New Topic". The RPM experts will probably help you.

Thank you for noticing CC. You are very astute as usual. When I realized that decent pictures were necessary for decent answers, I figured some things out.
