Mohammed Mahmoud al-Zubairi was one of the most important poets of Yemen.
Born in 1910 in the capital Sana, died in 1964. He studied in Egypt and was later exiled to Pakistan for his criticism of the feudal regime of the Imam who ruled the country.
Considered one of the greatest intellectual and literary critics, since his literary position reflected the social problems and suffering of his people.
When the Yemen Arab Republic, established in 1962, adopted the metric system in 1969, the first coins were a series of commemorative coins dedicated to this poet.
Values: 1, 2 riyals (silver) 5, 10, 20, 30, 50 riyals (gold)
