1962 P Lincoln Memorial Cent / LMC Clipped Planchet?

lawest Pillar of the Community United States 1998 Posts	Posted 03/19/2015 10:19 pm Does this look like a clipped planchet? Found in an OBW roll. I noticed on the opposite edge from the clip the coin is also damaged, is this normal? Report this Post to the Staff

ErrorCoins222 Pillar of the Community United States 1699 Posts	Posted 03/20/2015 12:28 am That's a genuine clip! The "damage" that you see opposite of the clip is the Blakesley effect. When the blank goes through the upset mill, the absence of metal at the clip prevents the application of pressure which forms the rims on the opposite side of the clip. Your clip is not a curved clip, but was likely produced from the edge of a copper cent strip. Report this Post to the Staff
