Need Help With 3RD Century Sestertius

jcmworld Pillar of the Community United States 567 Posts	Posted 03/21/2015 3:06 pm Hi folks, I'm having trouble with this big clunker of a coin. I'm pretty sure it's a Sestertius from the mid 3rd century. Flipping though RIC and Van Meter hasn't been helpful. I think it's from the Antioch Mint, I can see AN--- in the exergue. On the obverse, the portion of the legend I can make out is VS--S PF AVG. Here's the specs and a photo: 31.5 mm, 16.58 grams. Report this Post to the Staff

Gil-galad Pillar of the Community United States 2044 Posts	Posted 03/21/2015 3:46 pm I believe it's a Roman Provincial from Moesia, Viminacium. On the reverse in exergue is the date. Looks like it might be AN IIII. Difficult to see, maybe you can tell. Just giving you enough info for a starting point to narrow it down. Report this Post to the Staff
