Sigismund I was the King of Poland and the Grand Duke of Lithuania from 1506 until 1548. A Catholic man who was a patron of the arts and helped spread the Renaissance movement to his lands, encouraging the growth of music, painting, literature and learning.

He was also religiously tolerant, giving protection to the Jews and the Eastern Orthodox. Although he was opposed to Lutheranism, he eventually extended the tolerance to the Lutherans also.

Him armies subdued the Order of Teutonic Knights, who ruled in East Prussia. The Order was secularized and then abolished after Sigismund's nephew, who was the Grand Master of the Order, converted to Lutheranism and then submitted Prussia to Poland under Sigismund.

Although Zygmunt I Stary fought in the Polish-Teutonic War and the Teutonic State was abolished and became a Polish fief, the Duchy of Prussia, the Teutonic State never recovered after the Battle of Grunwald of 1410 and thus I wouldn't say Zygmunt I's armies subdued the Teutonic State, more so that he put an end to it.

The protection of the Jews existed in Poland since Boleslaw Pobozny's 1264 Statute of Kalisz, which was reaffirmed in 1344 by Kazimierz III Wielki. Tolerance towards all religions occurred sometime shortly thereafter, I believe.
