Is that "VDB" supposed to be there, on reverse at the bottom mid section close to rim?

Very nice find by the way!

The sculpture's initials (V.D.B.) were placed on the reverse of SOME of the first year issue Lincoln's. Includes 1909-P and 1909-S. For the remainder of 1909 through 1917 VDB does not appear on the coin at all. Beginning in 1918 the VDB was placed back on the coin but not on the reverse... it is placed on the obverse on Lincoln's shoulder. It is still on the obverse on today's Lincoln Cent. Wikipedia has a decent history, here is the link
