Are there really collectors of P01 coins? If you look at the PCGS tables Grade 01 coins are given a higher value than 02 or 03 grade coins. Are some coin types more collectable at p01 than others? are there strict criteria to qualify as a P01. I have a lot of VERY worn standing liberty and Barber quarters. do these qualify?

Yes, there are low ballers. The real challenge is to identify the dies used to make the coin (VAMming for Morgan and Peace dollars.)

Yes, Lowballing is a niche with some issues. In fact, there are a number of Lowball categories in the PCGS Registry. The interest is limited to certain issues. For instance, Barber coinage is unlikely to become a Lowball category simply because they're so common in well-circulated condition.

Conversely, some Morgans and Ikes (for instance) are more common in Mint State than circulated. There are a few Morgan issues yet to be found in P01.

If you look around at coin shows you would see lots of coins for sale that would go for a PO1. Maybe even less.

Ike dollars are really tough to find in PO01. I want one (PCGS) for my collection at some point, but I'm currently focused on upgrading my registry set.

Ikes are surprisingly popular as Lowballs. Some pretty serious collectors are looking hard at them. Unfortunately, it's leading to artificial circulation. There are a few P01 Ikes which are known to have been "created."
