You know when you see a Fugio cent attributed as "Newman L-1" or whatever? That's Eric P. Newman. He is 104 years old.

He is, "a titan in the numismatic world".

He bought most of his coins during the 1940s and 1950s. At the time, he paid a total of around $7500.

In 2008, he sold every coin he owned ...

For $21,000,000

Actually, what he sold were mainly his duplicates and cast-offs His primary collection resides in the Newman Money Museum on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis.

Mr. Newman gets as much print space around here as any human aside probably Sheldon.
