Hi guys, check out this beautifully struck O girl! I have this one at VAM 6 however there is little diagnostics on vw... I see a possible clashed e of We in the hair curl and a rev clashed M... Do u see them too? Does it look like letter clashing?... this is an lds As there are many small cracks all over both sides but not much other clashing I can find. Thanks for the help

Ps- check out the atypical neck crack SD!

Please keep Morgans in the VAM Forum; we'll overwhelm the other forum if we allow them there.

VAM-6 has ample smoking-gun attributes listed, and you've nailed them.

The crack through the lower neck is relatively common on Morgans. It's when it starts further up - second star usually - and goes through the middle of the neck that it becomes scarce. For Morgans, that means a quick search means you'll only find fifty different varieties out of the first thousand.

Note this forum - where we only allow discussion of Morgan & Peace varieties - is as large as the rest of Classic Varieties. We'd crowd them out.

Does the coin show clashing in more common areas? Practically everything will clash onto a Morgan reverse before the M, so there would have to be other clashing present first.
Rest in Peace

Ya, She's all cracked out!..

Can't find any other clashing at all SD but geez if that dosent look like a clashed M with cotrect orientation even though it's a few mm to the right of where it should be. And the E in the hair wisp must be polishing lines I guess?

Well, if the "m" is not where they clash, it can't be a clash, can it? How could it get there?

So what you have to do is visualize what sort of die rotation would be required to put the "m" where it is, if it's possible. And it'll be rotating around a center, so it will move vertically as well as laterally.

For the record, the clash in the hair vee is the s or the t of "trust." There is no "e" anywhere near there.

In order to evaluate clashing, it's necessary to understand where it manifests most strongly and in what order. It's a big help to be able to do an overly in your head. That's one of the necessary skills for a VAMmer.
