What would a 1951-S Double Die penny go for? I got one with the words Liberty, IIn god we trust, and the year 1951 all doubled.

Could you please try to find a better camera for better quality photos?

It's a little difficult, it's inside a plastic case and there's no way to take it out. Mostly the scratches and defect looking stuff is the plastic case. I'll give it a shot though

That's a very prominent doubling despite the portrait not being doubled. I'd love to hear coppercoins comment on this one. I don't recall this being a major doubled die, so it could be rare.

I defer to coppercoins and other Lincoln Cent specialists.

Can you crack the case or no? It would be really great if you could remove the coin from the case.

My thoughts: the coin shifted a little in the case (which is resin) and there is an imprint of the coin that is distorting the light reflecting off the copper surface, making the devices look doubled. Your first and second pictures in your second post show the phenomenon the most obviously, as the doubleing seems a bit transparent around the date and LIBERTY.

Given that this coin has been in circulation for 64 years, and it's virtually impossible to strike only a single example of a doubled die, it's tough to believe this hasn't been discovered before. The doubling is beyond anything I've ever seen on a Linc aside the '55.

That said, something doubled it. It is simply not possible to form intelligent conclusions from these images. It has to come out of whatever it's in at the moment. It would need to go to a TPG for evaluation anyway, and could not be in such a container.

Haha well the good news is I got it out of the case with a hammer, and the bad news is typecoin was right. Oh well.
