This should make for interesting reading in the future. I'm all for another revolution but minting Liberty dollars won't hack it and mercenaries such as I probably wouldn't accept them for combat pay.

From the Washington Post: quote: The seizure of the coins held an upside for those who have received their orders. On ebay, silver Ron Paul Dollars that were bought for $20 were selling for more than $300 last night.
Wow, I guess there is an upside to fiat currencies after all.

when this company started minting these and selling them I just knew something like this was coming. It is like you were buying stock in the company (especially with the e-dollars and the paper currency they printed because they didn't have any hard asset in the peoples hands at all) and just knew they would either file chapter11 or say something like this happened or just close the doors and never be heard from again. Unlike the US mint that is backed by the US Government this was just like every other company and can just about do what ever they wish (just like if you had your own lawn care business, you could quit cutting grass anytime you wanted). I am not saying this company was a scam but I have to say it is the first thing that came to mind when I first read about them selling these things and calling them another form of payment that they were trying to get people to circulate

I don't think it helped any when the company started waving the Liberties under the noses of the Feds. Sorta like "Catch Me if You Can". They did.

scoutjim, I am afraid not, this has been talked about on just about every coin forum I have read since this happened. Please tell me you weren't one of the people with either the e-money or paper money in your possession

Well guys, Let me just say I was one who bought a sample of the Liberty Dollar $20 and also the Copper Liberty $1 (which I gave away as part of a prize from my last contest). I personally have no intention of using them for payment of anything, it was because I found them interesting and wanted to add something different to my collection.
On this recent news I am glad that I went ahead and bought these samples. I don't think they will come back because the government will not allow it. Now I have in my possession something that will be talked about for a while and will die out in the long-run.

It's kinda funny.
I orderd the copper version in June and was it placed as a backorder which was promised to be shipped in first week in August. Didn't receive them till Sept and was thrilled they finally came, to send to winners of my birthday contest.
Wasn't happy that the ones I received didn't look 'uncirculated' and considered returning them to have them replaced. But since it took so long to send them to me I didn't want to take the chance of having to wait another 2-3 months for a replacement (winners in contest were waiting for their winnings).
Sure glad I didn't otherwise I would have lost the money I paid for them and that would have made me VERY angry.
