The Bay State Coin Show is the "really big shoe" held in Boston twice a year at the Radisson Hotel, 6th floor, 200 Stuart Street, Park Square, Boston. There is nearby parking at typical Boston parking garage rates, which is $5-10/hr or $20-$25/day. I'm not a big fan of driving around in Boston so I usually take the "T" to Arlington Station on the Green Line and walk about 3 blocks to the hotel. If you are driving in from from the west you might want to park at Riverside Station in Newton (off of Rt 128 just south of the Mass Pike), so you can relax and ride the subway right to Arlington Station.

This is the place to be if you collect
World, Medieval, Ancient, US Colonial Coins or Numismatic Literature

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 30th 10am - 7pm
SATURDAY DECEMBER 1st 10am - 7pm
SUNDAY DECEMBER 2nd 10:30am - 3pm

See you there!

YUP, Ducky "WAS" there, I just got home at 6:00 PM.. Got there this morning a little after 11:00. Never thought that I would be spending 7 hours ( 1/2 hour for a lunch break) when I left this morning. I parked right in the Hotel Parking Garage, $18.00 for all day, don't know what the per hour rate is. You get on the elevator, hit the button for the 6th floor and you get off right in front of the desk where you pay admission for the show, Real Handy.

At 11 AM the show was still already PACKED and the Dealers where still doing their own little trading. I was lucky enough to get in the middle of a couple of them.

GOLD> GOLD> GOLD pretty much everywhere and it looked heavenly, unfortunately the pricing was also in the heavens, even with the price dropping today, that was THE topic for discussion today. With the price drop and all, I tried to work a few deals but came home empty handed in the GOLD category. There were a couple of Dealers that were doing a BRISK business in Bulk Silver, BULLION & 90% coin.

Bobby is Absolutly RIGHT ON where he says "if your looking for World, Medieval, Ancient, US Colonial Coins" this is the place to be. There has to be at least 30-40 that specilize in the above ( now, I didn't count and I don't know the exact number) but it seemed that one of the rooms was dedicated to Medievals, Ancients, etc...

All in all, it was a GOOD show, I think that me staying there for 7 hours proves that. I have to say it has been better in the past, but I'm also going back a few years. The layout is still one of the major complaints, broken up into 5-6 little rooms. Another issue I have at these shows are people draging suitcases around with them. Vest Pocket Dealers that bring their "whole" shop with themin hopes of selling 1 or 2 coins. Their suitcase takes up half the aisle, which isn't big enough to begin with. RANT OFF.

And finally for tighe & t360, I will not be going back tomorrow. The Wife has laid down the law. I had my fun, now I have to go Xmas shopping with her

AND I wish I had seen this post earlier, Bobby did you have a table? If you did I'm sure we talked, at least once and I didn't even know it. DOH, DOH, DOH.

Had a great time with tights24 at the show today! We saved on parking but it was a cold windy day in Boston and the walk to the Raddisson gave us quite a chill.

I spent most of my time with the world and ancients dealers -- coming home with some new Swedish coins and a few hammered French. Also picked up a Nero Sestertius. Spied some very good looking colonials, especially some Mass Cents, but I was tapped out by then.

Altogether an awesome show and I'm looking forward to the next Bay State show in the Spring.
