It seemed like Dolly Madison is going to be the most expensive First Spouse of the year. Sitting at the price mark of $509.95 and $529.29 for MS and Proof, she's surely expensive. With pot price for gold dropping to $777.... the order seemed slow....
I am just wondering how many people will buy her? Does the mint produce the coin ahead of time (ie: producing the 40,000 total maximum) or they only "make to order"..... Can this become a scarcity?
With gold price dropping and the mint price set at such a high price (about $100 more than Thomas Jefferson Liberty).... less people will buy it.... and the secondary market will increase in value on a latter day (supply vs demand).... What do you think?
In any rate, I have to sell my other "random coins" to either: a) Buy the both coins or B) Buy one of the two coin or C) Buy none of those two and save the money for my Lincoln cents Album
I only have the MS and Proof of Thomas Jefferson Liberty.... so I'll probably will not trying to complete a collection of all First Spouse..... What would you do?

I think coin collecting is all about priorities setting. We can't have everything, do we?
You either have time constrain, money constrain, or quality of coin constrain......

Yikes, I looked at the price today and my jaw almost hit the floor. I can't believe there was a $100.00 increase on the Proof and a $99.00 increase on the Unc. I don't see this one selling out anytime soon. (I could be wrong)
I have no intention on purchasing this. The price is a little too steep for my budget.

I don't either, there are way to many gold coins this year to try to get them all. I did get both Liberty spouse coins and a Buffalo coin for 2007 but the rest of them I ainta gettin. I may get them later on ebay because if prices keep falling on gold they will be cheaper there than they are from the mint, just like the gold buffalo is now

I think if I had the money that this coin costs I would buy something else with it anyway. It is a nice coin, but all the hype around it turns me off. I am not a Modern guy anyway. I can think of some beautiful 19th Century coins to buy though.

I honestly don't think there will be a lot of speculating going on with this coin. The price is just too high so I have my doubts that you will be able to find this coin on ebay below cost. I looked on the website this morning and it is still readily available.

Gold price is on re-bounce....

We bought the Jefferson spouse coin because I really thought it would become valuable. Well, time will tell?
No other spouse coins in my future.
Too pricey.

Nope. Just not interested and I think they're ugly and way too expensive.

Probably not the Madison but the Van Buren and Jackson coins next year interest me somewhat as they have images from coins that circulated during their presidency. Who would have thought a type set coin would be a "batchelor President" :)
