So the auction states no arrows. The slab says no arrows. CAC even approved it (and it verifies on their website as no arrows). But this coin on ebay clearly has arrows. Am I missing something here? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1853-Half-D...331519871591? Am I hallucinating? Shouldn't an 1853 no arrows look like this? Edited by Tbone 04/02/2015 12:50 am

Yeah, I mean PCGS makes mistakes, but it got through CAC as well? And as if that isn't enough the seller on ebay is trying to pass it off as no arrows. There's a pretty big difference in price by the way. 1853 H10C AU55 with arrows guide price is $180 1853 H10C AU55 no arrows guide price is $650

Man! How do things like this slip past so many people?
Edit- Lol. I am highest bidder at 60.05. Maybe I will win? XD. I don't even have 40 cents in paypal so if I win, wich I won't I will need to come up with some quick cash!

Obviously it's the no arrows variety. Those arrow like blobs are from symmetrical die gouges.

The mistake has come about by some way or other. As everybody knows, the 1853 came in both arrows and non arrows varieties. Perhaps this provided the right conditions for mistakes such as to be made.

It seems pretty obvious that this condition, scotoma, is rampant among TPG'ers lately...and this seller. "A blind spot, scotoma, is an obscuration of the visual field. A particular blind spot known as the physiological blind spot, "blind point", or punctum caecum in medical literature, is the place in the visual field that corresponds to the lack of light-detectingphotoreceptor cells on the optic disc of the retina where the optic nerve passes through the optic disc.(2) Since there are no cells to detect light on the optic disc, a part of the field of vision is not perceived. The brain interpolates the blind spot based on surrounding detail and information from the other eye, so the blind spot is not normally perceived." (2) Gregory, R., & Cavanagh, P. (2011). "The Blind Spot". Scholarpedia. Retrieved on 2011-05-21. BTW, the second coin, no arrows, is a very attractive coin!

Nice coin to use to cheat the PCGS registry.

That's a $100,000 mistake, according to another seller of mislabeled coins, just last week.

I think you guys shouldn't be so quick to judge. I think that the coin was firstpy mislabeled by PCGS and then sent to CAC. CAC backed the grade and very likely noticed the mislabeled slab, but into their system, the probably entered the PCGS certification number which likely links the info directly from the PCGS website, resulting in there being further wrong info on the CAC website. Although, the seller is definitely at fault for trying to pass it off as a no arrows 1853.

It could be possible the seller is clueless as to what "no arrows" means and simply looks at the label and then a price guide. They might not even look at the coin itself.

I messaged the seller and they ended the auction.
