Since a grade or two can be the difference in a couple $100s, what do you all think this would grade? It cartwheels and does backflips...is it worth slabbing?

Ken,

That's a gorgeous 99-P! And you are faced with a dilemma...slab or don't slab. The value goes astronomical beyond 65, but I don't think this one will make that grade. Realistically it would probably only get a 63 from PCGS due to the average strike and presence of contact marks on the cheek, neck and fields.

I think if you intend to profit on it, I would let the buying community assign it's own grade and count on the beautiful toning to add a premium. I would be very tempted to pick this one RAW just for the toning.

Ken, I agree with SN on the grade but would definitely consider having it graded by one of the big three. So many people are not comfortable with their own grading so will place a grade on something and then offer points below their estimate grade to protect themselves. Put in a PCGS slab with a 63 grade on it and the potential buyer is more willing to pay those types of dollars but won't if their personal grade was 63. Now if you are just going to put it in your collection and enjoy it, don't worry about putting it in a slab.

another thing people now worry about is Artificial Toning, so if you are planning on selling this as was said above I think a slabbed coin with this color would sell for more than a raw coin of the same color/date

Another nice Morgan, Nelrak!
From the pics provided, I would guess ms63. Although the toning enhances this coin very nicely, it would not really affect it's price (especially in this market).
With this coins value, I would have it slabbed.

Sounds good, I think I will just keep it in my Dansco for now. I like it a lot especially since it is the year of my Grandfather's birth! I bought it thinking it was a 63, so all is good.
