I've read several threads on the error coin forum, and have seen people talking about Mechanical Doubling. What is Mechanical Doubling, and are coins that are mechanically doubled worth anything as error coins? Just curious, and thanks in advance.

There are a few differing opinions on exactly how Mechanical Doubling happens ,, perhaps the most popular is that the die shifts slightly when it starts the upward motion after striking the coin.

Coins with this type of doubling do not have any added value.

Here is a link for you to take a look at .

Just to add to what metalman said
there are a lot of people that sale these MD coins as error's. they are not error so if you want to get into error or varieties learn something about them before you waist your money on pocket change that you can get for face value
