This looks like a D over A nickel to me. Is there an error in the D mintmark? Could be a D over D? Image: 1964D1.jpg19.22 KB Image: 1964D2.jpg100.77 KB

This is the best my camera can do. Now it looks like a D over D possibly and I can see a P, maybe, at a 45 degree angle at the lower rigt hand corner of the D. Image: 1964d5.jpg22 KB Image: 1964D6.jpg14.62 KB

OK...No such thing as a D over A, No such thing as a D over P, ...It is impossible.
Taking into consideration all the various nicks marks and damage everywhere elso on the coin, it is highly likely to a very certain degree that the coin exhibits damage that just happens to look like something else.
Since the possibilities mentioned are impossible. Damage is what it would be.
