Not sure if it's a weak strike. So I'm guessing anywhere from 58-62. Also, cleaned because I think I see some hairlines.

man I stink at these things and everytime you post one in the grading forum I only see how bad I am at it. When I think about the typical weak New Orleans strike I am inclined to say MS-61 on this one but I would probably think AU-50 if it was any other mint mark

I love these O mint Morgans ,, but I have one Heck of time grading them myself ,,but I'm getting better all of the time .

and to make it more difficult the flat breasted reverse of the coins dated 1880 and back are even tougher when it comes to the O mint coins.

I believe I see some signs of light wear so I'll give her au-55 details and most definitely cleaned.

It could go anywhere between AU-53 and AU-58 IMHO.

Take Care

Thank you everyone for the feedback on this coin.

I had it in the slider grades AU-58 to MS-61 ,,I have to tell you I was hoping to stick it in the MS catagory ,, but by the looks of the opinions I have here it will be listed in my inventory as an AU-55

and the search continues for the 80-O in mint state to add to my collection.

Thanks again !

I agree with the 55 opinions. In 1880, the master dies were still fresh, and you can expect good strikes on New Orleans Morgans. They start deteriorating around the mid-1880's.

Hi Dave

Its ok if you dis my coin But did it have to be one of the first things you did when you got home ?

Actually I paid EF money for it so AU is still gives me a little room in it when I put it back on the market .

I have a few that will be going that way soon .
