That's 1979 that one usually goes for like $80 or so. RedBook has the 1981 Susan type 2 at $259 and ebay usually always goes at least close to what its worth.

I think right now everyone is saving for Christmas and not buying coins for themselves (and spouses and children just don't know that much to know what is a good buy and not for the collector in the family so they stick to the usual no brainers) so just about everything on ebay except for a small few are seeing a price reduction right now. Will this go the other way after Christmas? I don't know Edit: I looked at the pics and although I will say this is a clear "S" I don't think it is actually a type2, it has straight serifs and not the bulbous serifs the type2 has. All 1981 proof sets have a clear "S" (which was introduced late 1979) but the type 2 has bulbous serifs instead of the straight serifs that the clear "S" (type2) that 1979 has. Atleast this looks like straight serifs from the dark picture provided of the mint mark

if you scroll down on this page to the 1981 section and read what it says and look at the pictures you will understand how to tell which is which on this date Link to distinguish type1 from type2

Only someone who has money to throw away would bid on that set ,,there is no way to make any type of determination about it being a type 2 set for 1981 from the pictures provided .
The type one set is 8.00 ,, this set sold for 107.00

I was almost fooled into thinking I had the type 2 1981 susan b. Then I found the same link bryan posted and cleared that issue up. I bet a lot of people are mistaking when they think they have a type 2 1981 set. I even asked a guy selling it today, which was clearly a type 1, but he insisted it was type 2. Gotta keep your eyes out for this.

Thanks, Rick, for the great comparison on the type 1 and 2 MM. I was operating under the incorrect info. Jim

Are they really going for 100-150 or was that guy just lucky?

Based on the photos, there is no way to determine if it is a type 2. I have been searching for one for a while, but I want to view the set in hand first. This way I can see for myself. I.ll bet the buyer isn't going to be happy when they receive the set and no return policy.

I think this guy took a gamble no one else was willing to take. The picture of the mint mark was too dark to see if it was indeed a type2 or if it was a type1 and since both have a clear S for this date it confuses alot of people
