1776-1976 S Ike Doubling On Date ?

Picked this up at a yard sale. Seems to have a blue haze on it.
But at three times face, why not. Serifs seem to be split. When your used to looking at Morgans this is a whole new ballgame. The only thing worse is trying to find doubling on a bowl of mush called Peace dollars. Here's lots of pictures.

It appears to me that you have whats labeled as a DDO-MD1 class 2 distorted hub doubling. This is a master die doubled die. There should also be doubling on the T & R in trust. This doubling has been found from all 3 mints. 1976d was the only doubled die obverse for this year. DDO-001.

Also looks to be a type 1 obverse. There were 2 obverses for this year. The numbers in the date are thinner on the type 1. Bottom left leg on the R in liberty has no serif as does the type 2. And the middle bar on the E of WE comes out almost flush with the upper and lower bars on the type 1. The type 2 is much shorter.

There are many doubled dies for this series. If you are going to start collecting this series may I suggest a book The Authoritative Reference on Eisenhower dollars. Very good book. Hope this helps.
