Trying to finish my Lincoln Wheat Set and I was tempted by an offering by a seller in a PCGS slab for a weak D 1922. His pictures were absolutely horrible. I took them into Photoshop and tried to enlarge them and sharpen. You couldn't even read the date. I emailed him and asked for more detailed pictures and this is the response I received:

"Why? PCGS has done the work for you, they have authenticated and graded the coin. If there was a problem with it, they would not grade it. They are the most respected grading company around. we do not feel that it is real vital to see details on a coin that is graded by this company. Thanks

- shcoins"

Here is a seller who seems to be saying that you are bidding on the slab - not the coin!! I emailed back and told him that was absolutely the dumbest reply from a seller that I had ever received. If you have a PCGS slabed coin that you are proud of, why not provide clear pictures in your listing? Something smells to high heaven with listings like this one. Here is a link to the listing:

What do you guys think?

Considering his 5% restocking fee for a returned coin, I would avoid this one. The seller has 10405 feedback with 52 negatives. Half of his negative feedbacks have been in the last year.

I would pass on this one.

I have taken some chances with bad pictures but have to say I usually was disappointed when the coin arrived but every blue moon you get a surprise and the coin be alot better than you thought it was. But saying just because its graded by PCGS there is no need for a good picture is just plain stupid and tells me he sells to more inexperienced collectors that go by the plastic and not the coin than he does to seasoned collectors that knows you always buy the coin and not the slab because one mans AU is another's VF

Can't stay far enough away from this seller. I read through the feedback. Looks like someone had a pretty good time with him.....Seller started removing pictures after the auction was over claiming it costs money to keep them there. I assume he's talking about storage/memory. Memory is so cheap right now it shouldn't make a difference to begin with. What I can't figure out, is how he's losing space? Unless they are links and not just jpeg's.

Regardless, if you go back far enough, you will see pictures from previous auctions, so apparently he doesn't need space that bad, or these would have been cleaned out too. Certainly seems like someone trying to make sure nobody can compare overgrading complaints with pictures from the auction.
