Just out of curiosity, does anyone collect PNC's? If so I would love to know what the appeal is to people.

They seem to be a really hot item at the moment.

I have purchased some, but only for the coin. I cut the coin out and give the stamps to the kids. I have been raked over the coals for it though, but I can't figure out why.

If you want the stamp, then buy it at the Post Office. If you want the coin, buy it from the Mint. Why pay a premium for a PNC only to cut it up.

Quite a few have gone up in vale. Some wallow.

Check out the Ashes Series PNC. They're about $100 each. Cut out the coin and its worth less that what you can buy a carded $1 one for.

There are exceptions. The 2000 Last Anzac PNC. It is the only way to get the coin. I bought a damaged envelope simply for the coin.

The Yarralumla PNC is the only way to get the 50 cent piece.

I agree. The only PNC's that I have purchased have been ones in which that is the only way to get the coin, such as the world heritage and the Last Anzac that you mentioned.

Some people must however place a value on the PNC item itself. As you mention, the Ashes is selling at around $100, yet the coin is worth less than $20 and the stamps practically nothing I think. That makes the complete package worth $80+.

I'm just curious as to how many people actually enjoy collecting the PNC's as a whole.

I think there is a big following going by ebay sales and other forums. I have a mate that loves them also. Not my area of interest though unless it's the coin I'm after.
