A friend told me about this. The flag on top of the main mast of Bluenose.Pointing up,pointing down. I decided to check it out myself. Out of 160 dimes I found 4 pointing up,the rest down. Anyone heard of or noticed? any info would be appreciated. The photo is not the best.Coins on left best image I think. thx in advance

Would really see a decent pic of what you mean. I have four 2010s on my desk and they all point down, as you say.

Had a look. Your pic " Cud and bubbles" is similar cept my top pic has much more curvature to it. Very interesting. I had no idea the missing flag even existed. I shall continue to follow that thread. Whatta think ,just random die error's? especially the 68 cameo-p/l. thanks for the link.

Hi Canacoins, your friend is right, there are a few variations in the shape & positioning of the flag on the 10¢ 2010. We can observe variations on the 10¢ 2011 as well, but they're not as impressive as the 2010's. I shared a few pictures & GIF of an on-going study on these coins on numicanada, here: http://www.numicanada.com/forum/vie...f=24&t=20964The next image shows the main variations, though there might be a 6th variety -also shown on numicanada's thread- that I still hesitate to include because I'm not sure yet if it's a die chip. The flag on the left is the regular one.

This might be from a damaged hub. If it was damaged and somewhat "fragile" the flag could be "moving" (distorting) as the hub gets used more and more. I know that I have two hubs sitting on my desk and I stacked on on top the other and caused some damage to the hub below - a flattened nose, etc. I just wasn't thinking when I stacked them to get them out of my way. Kind of cool hubs. They were from out of the old Roger Williams Mint before they went through reorganization after getting caught making fake Toronto Transit tokens for a company in NY.

Anyway, these are really cool varieties no matter how they were made. I'm going to find some for myself.

I have two in ICCS flips and they do seem progressive. Die chips, perhaps?
