Noticing this coin on an ebay auction (290186723853), and correlating with a recent HA auction, I thought I'd disclose the previous auction details, in the remote chance he/she reads this here.

The seller claims: "Trends in PCGS PriceGuide for $4,850 in EF-45."

However, that assumes the rim damage would not damage that trend price. Indeed, this coin's last sale only brought $920 among 10 bidders on 9-26-07 (Auction 446, lot 84). Here is the auction; you may need to login to view the selling price: http://coins.ha.com/common/view_ite...No=84&src=pr

Moreover, the Ebayer does not display the slab and ANACS #, so here it is:

Please correct me if I am wrong but you are no longer allowed to reference price guides in an ebay auction. in addition "The listing must include an image of the item, showing the coin in its graded holder, front and back."

Richard,
Good point...perhaps I should report this one? I found the listing disingenuous at best, so I managed to track down the bidder.

Looks like the listing has already been cleaned up a bit. Already a substantial profit as well!! I don't see much wrong with it now, and well done actually by the buyer/seller for flipping it with a nice profit in my opinion. Still has the "trends" portion in the listing though.

Perhaps I'll just chalk it up to savvy "coin flipping", but the fact is he pays one price reflecting a damaged coin, then he turns around and makes a misleading claim as to its value. On the "flip side" any smart bidder should check auction histories beforehand to ascertain a market value. Caveat Empor!
