Well, it's the coat of arms of the British East India Company. They made coins for many of their territories, in India as well as other outposts under their control such as St Helena Island. I'd like to see the other side, if possible. The date 1825 matches coinage issued for the Madras Presidency, but the picture doesn't look quite the same as the ones in Krause.

I believe this is a 1 cent (1 pice) from Penang KM#15 copper. Penang is on the Malay Peninsula and was part of the Straits Settlements.

G'day, Penang is an island. It is now a part of Malaysia. It is off the west coast of the Peninsula, in the north of the country. It is connected to the mainland by a bridge. Great food.

Yep, Penang, known to the colonists as Prince of Wales Island. Yours is either a 1 cent (27mm across) or a 2 cents (31mm across). The catalogue value for both is about the same, $40 in Fine, but yours is in much more worn condition than that. Probably a $5 to $10 coin.
