I picked this up the other day and paid MS-63 BN money for it, I should of had my loupe on me but forgot it. Is a weak strike normal for early Lincolns? This one is a little off center and the reverse is weak. The obverse looks MS-63 but the reverse looks AU-EF. Opinion, comments welcome!

I'd say it's a "qualified" MS62-63, it's a weakly struck reverse is all. The lettering has the classic "mushy" look to a weak strike. However, the coin does concern me with the color variation on the reverse. I think I'd have to see it in-hand to render a decent opinion, but it sure looks like reverse sat in something that "cleaned" the natural toning that present on the obverse. There's even hints of the orginal color from 9-12 o'clock.

Because of the weak reverse strike, some small hits and the color variation, I'd have to knock it down a little to MS61 personally. It's still a beauty!

The color of the reverse has me concerned that the coin has been "played with".

Thanks for the comments, the color in hand is a little different than what is here, I got a new camera and am still playing with the settings. The reverse almost looks like a "Coke" bath in the photo, I put a cent in coke to see what it would do once. I will have to get it out of lock up and retake some photo's.
