Looks like a slider with a light cleaning. AU Details would be a worst case for this piece. I think it could grade AU55 at a major TPG but would not be considered a strong piece because of the surfaces and would be valued primarily on its gold weight.

Well, history this coin certainly has, it was carried by my grandmother through the second world war in a Japanese concentration camp. (so I just assume it has not really been cleaned, as it was in a drawer for about 60 Years) As a kid I used to collect some coins. This one just triggered an old hobby I guess.

Welcome to Coin Community, impala67. This is one of those coins which there isn't enough money on Earth to purchase, and the fact that it's slightly circulated means absolutely nothing whatsoever.
All coins have stories like yours. Looked at from that viewpoint, the ones whose stories we know are the most valuable of all.

Very nice that u can track the history of your coin. What Japanese Americans were subjected to during ww2 was a travesty. I suggest getting a generic slab and writing a custom label with that info on it for posterity. Also, any art or crafts your grandparents made while at the camps can be of high value on today's collector market so keep them safe too if u have any!

Many thanks for the info guys. I have some indication of what to share now. @Cascade: I was not aware of the American camps, good to learn to know something about it this way. My grandparents actually were in a camp run by Japanese soldiers as native Dutch citizens in Indonesia during WW2. I have some 1 ct bank notes from this period but I guess this forum is not the right spot to ask about those.
