The obverse has what appears to be an exit wound, with nice toning all around. The reverse incorporates the "wood grain". From my understanding it is caused by an improper alloy mix that has toned. It's not as sweet as that penny we just saw, but not bad for a nickel. I hope you enjoy it.

I like the front too. At the risk of sounding a little "off center", look at Jefferson's eyes on this one. To me, they don't look synchronized. Maybe it's from his incused forehead. lol

I never knew Jefferson had a lazy eye...

Heck, I never actually thought to give the nickel a good look, ever since it came out in 2006...LOL

The lines on the reverse looks like rolling stock lines. (imperfection on the stock material) I see these and wonder why they still exist on struck coins. But they are there. The coin looks like it was fully stained/found outdoors at sometime. Note on the tops of the devices where the silver is coming through? So the color is topical.

I see, thanks for the info Coop. Pretty nice effect I thought. The more I thought about it, I realized it couldn't be an improper alloy mix because the "grain" would have been on both sides.

I have no opinion on how the nickel happened because I don't know but has far as woodies, coinmaster, you can have the grainy effect on only on side...
