So I finally got my 2015 Charlton book in todays mail. I went right to the Toonie section and learned a few things.

1. 2006 Pixie Ear for the Churchill toonie

2. 2010 edge serrations 16/14

3. 2012 low mintage non-security toonie

4. 2012-present was a shocker, edge lettering that even goes through the serrations.

I've got some work to do...lol

Do you just collect circulation or all the special one off in set ones too?

Mainly circulation coins from sets, some BU. Some commems that were meant for circulation also. I am a little confused though. Looking on ebay, I am seeing toonies dated 2013 and up that have no lazer security marks and I believe they may be from Specimen sets. Looking through my new Charlton I can't find any mention of these.

I need to update my books this year, but just wondering, what is the mintage of old-style and new-style toonies and loonies?

Why don't Specimen toonies after 2012 have the security features as their circulation counterparts?

I have found at least 3-4 toonies but not a single loonie. That one is a toughie for me. I would trade a $2 for a $1 just to fill a hole.

Regarding the loonies. They are scarce. More so than the toonies for me. I purchased 2 1$ on ebay and the rest that I have are in sets. I have a full sheet of the old style 2$ coins but haven't seen any in months. Many were recycled due to this spill I would imagine.
