My late father used to keep odd screws, nails, washers and other bits and pieces in some little plastic drawer units that stacked together to form a cabinet.

After my parents died, and my brother and I cleared their house, these units sat gathering dust at the back of my garage.

Over the Easter holiday break I was looking at some of my coins and decided that certain parts of my collection were very messy. Coins that don't really fit into my albums, such as trading tokens, unofficial patterns, forgeries and my small collection of ancient coins, were stored in 2x2's inside old Kodak slide boxes of various sizes.

I then thought - "What about my Dad's storage boxes?"

They fit 2x2's and flips perfectly!

Meanwhile my US collection (expanding thanks to trades on CCF) has its own album:

Nice way to re-purpose something from your father.

Your US album is looking good, too! I have only fourteen UK coins in my collection.

Interesting. I too have some of those plastic units. Only I use them for screws and bolts and stuff. Never thought of using them for coin storage.

Nice example of up-cylcling! (I believe that's the en vogue word these days...)

And nice 2x2 album. I need to do something like that for my loose coins.

Sounds like a usable term to me.

For what it is worth, I keep my 2x2s in Dansco binders with twelve-pocket vinyl pages.
