Hey guys, dug this in the low-country of SC yesterday and was hoping to get a little ID help. It says, "American Institute" across the top and "New York" across the bottom. It is brass, but appears to have been silver plated at one time. I have found where the American Institute did give medals for accomplishments in various fields, and there were also a number of hard-time tokens created with the same design. However, mine does not have anything on the back...wondering if anybody has seen this before or knows exactly what it is...and yes, I knocked the crap out of it.
