I believe that 1867 marks the first year of Confederation for Canada. There are a number of anniversary tokens and medals that were produced but these all seem to have double dates, which yours does not. Bromac might know if he sees your post. Hopefully, we'll hear from him soon.
Rest in Peace

I'm certainly no expert on Canadian coins, but I have a passing knowledge of them since I travel there so often. I believe this is one of the Confederation centennial coins since it has the maple leaves on the reverse rather than the usual profile of the ruling monarch of the time (Queen Victoria). I don't think the maple leaf came into vogue until the mid-20th century (1960s?).

I agree this is a token and probably contemporary although I am not familiar with it.
As an aside, the maple leaf on our 1¢ coin first appeared in 1937 and that design is still in use today.

I have seen one of these pieces. It is most definitely a token that commemorates the Centenary of Confederation. My command of Parisian French is very limited.I don't know if that is inscribed in Quebecois.I like George Kruger Gray's Canadian coinage designs, especially the maple leaves on the 1c.,plus Emmanuael Hahn's Voyageur $1 design.
