I realize mint marks can be all over the place
but was curious if fairly normal on the 77-D
for the MM to have these attributes.
Low, Left positions, CW rotation, along with the mark
being about 3/4's the size of a normal looking D ? unless that is the norm. on that yr. naturally.
I checked around and found nothing so maybe it is nothing !
will post a pic. if it is something.
that didn't sound right ?
if anyone has a pic. of a few 77-D's please post.
There, that's better.

Hey Ron,

I shot a few quick pictures from a circ to MS roll of 77 + 77-D's I have , not the best pics but they should give size and placement comparisons.

It's normal for the mintmark to be placed anywhere under the date and within the rim. The D mintmark for that era is a blob with a shallow, sometimes completely missing inside.

Hey Thank's

That helped. I was more concerned I think
with the actual size of the MM and that proves it.
All your pics. are symetrical with my MM.
Just curious as I did not have any 77's on
hand to compare and I realize the positioning is
just a matter of fate. Only diff. I noticed is that mine is a lot closer to the jacket lapel. other than that I guess it is normal.
Once again, Thank's for the pics.

The only comment I would add to Coppercoins post, is that taking into account that the MM were hand punched on the die, and the large nimber of dies used to make the run(s) fir that year, you will notice from the many positionsm, that there were many dies used. The hand-punching ended in 1989.
