I wrote that I purchased this coin, because I am fascinated with the chop marks.

Now of course I am afraid it is fake.

Thanks in advance for any help. And yes I know I should have checked here first.

Frosty, what makes you think it is fake? It is very worn, and I agree completely that chopmarks make coins just that much more interesting. I am absolutely no expert, but it doesn't look fake to me.

Here are three examples from my collection that might help you out a bit? Also, there is a book on Chopmarked coins by FM Rose that might be helpful if you want to continue collecting Chops. :)

Thank you Kitty! I have looked at several 8 reales over the past few months. This one came up for sale and I didn't have time to even think. I will be happy to have it in hand.
