I just started filling in a Blue Whitman cent folder 1909-1940 (not the ringed binder) with the press lock for the coins. I can't seem to get the coins to snap into the folder!! Press hard and they just won't snap in. The one I have has the copper colored lettering on the cover.
Anyone else been having this issue? It's almost like the holes are just too small.

I finally tossed my blue cent folder that I was creating for my nephew. None of us could put coins into it. Finally had to splurge and go for the one with the clear front/back.

They will go in ,,but you have to start one egde and push sdieways and down ,, The best way is to use a coin your not going to have in the folder and size the hole for the one you want to put in it ,, this will help to keep from messing up the coin you want in your collection ,,when I was doing these folders That is what I would do ,,leave it there for a little while then remove it and place my coin .

Believe it or not I use hammer to put them in.
Your finger is too soft and gives too much. I put the coin in place and then place a couple heets of paper over them to protect the coins and then use the face of a hammer to press the coins into the hole.

I use a modern penny, stick one edge in, and use it to "scrape" in a circular motion the inside of the opening. This expands the size of the hole just a bit, and the cents go in much easier.

Boy, am I glad that I'm not the only one having problems. Good ideas, I'll try the methods described by metal and Bilbo for sure. I don't know about using a hammer though, that sound like you could damage the soft copper real easy.
thanks.

All of the replies have been good. I just wanted to let you know that you in fact are not the only one. It hurts me just to try and work with those things. I will take some of the given suggestions and see if any of those help.

I too have had problems getting coins into any of the card board type of press-in holders and I find that if they don't go in, readjust the direction you are pressing them into the hole and they go in.

Yup, same here. I'll use the handle of my magnifying glass (yes, the type you would see in an old caper movie) to gently persuade the coin in, that way my big fingers don't print up the coin.

I use a hammer but I put a towel over the coin before I hit it.

I tried Bilbo's method of using a modern penny around the edges, it worked great. Thanks for the quick responses.

I just realized there was a serious error in my suggestion. I meant "use a modern CENT." (Pennies are used in some countries, but in the USA we use cents.)
I've noticed that some posters earn a lot of demerits for this error. I hope the fact I caught it before it was otherwise reported reduced the seriousness of this transgression!

Bilbo, too late, you've already been targeted by the P.T.P., (proper term police). They have a program that spots problem sorts such as yourself as soon as the offending post is put up and I'm sure you'll be drug out of bed in the middle of the night and made to "disappear" very soon.
