Any reason this proof quarter is over $3K? Numismedia has is listed at $25. What's different about this coin?

DCAM is an absolute Condition Rarity for 1971-S. PR69CAM is a $100 coin. The last PCGS PR69DCAM that sold at Heritage - it's been 3 years since they offered one - went for $6900.

I think you misread Numismedia, that is a top pop coin in 69DCAM and Numismedia lists it at $2000.

Does the original owners add any value to the coin?

Ok, I was looking at a lower grade for some reason, but still. $2,000 vs. the $3K it's at. Seems like either Numismedia is off, or someone really wants this coin.

Numismedia is off. This is still well below what they sell for in the real world.

Interesting ... thanks for posting ..

I like to be reminded of conditional rare coins.

And ... for me .. it is nice to see a clad
Washington quarter sell for higher prices.

It just doesn't make sense that the value can be so drastic based off of one persons opinion. If you look on ebay right now there are all kinds of 1971-s quarters that are graded pr69cameo. To my eyes they look exactly the same as a ultra cameo coin. I would be curious if you re submitted a bunch of those coins raw, what would they come back as.

This kind of stuff always cracks me up. $3066 for a clad quarter, and the guy still charges $2.95 for economy shipping. Unless he originally bought the coin for $3000 dollars, is it really necessary to nickel and dime your customers?

Oh .. I agree also ...

But ... if I cherry picked one from a proof set, that I paid
less than $5.00 for. Sent it in to a TPG .. got that grade.

If someone wanted to pay me that kind of money ...
I would not say no.
