This 'coin' just sold on ebay with a few other bits of tat, some questionable Chinese coins and a known fake Chinese coin.

My research has determined it's an obv of a Carranza 5 Peso and the rev of a counterfeit (I believe I see FACSIMILE under the wings) 1865 Washington Dollar.

Anyone ever seen anything like this ?

I hope the winner doesn't think they won something real or rare. They're in for a rude awakening. What did the lot sell for?

Even in these pics I can tell the "Quarter" part isn't even close.

The reverse is from a fantasy piece about the size of a silver dollar with a Washington quarter design dated 1865. I'm sure that is what was used as the rev
The obverse is probably on some other fake mule

Unless whoever makes those 1865 fantasy pieces also struck this "fantasy" coin as well?

Went for £11.50 (just under $17)

Here's the auction.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281655941123

I would've went more just to look at it in hand (I collect UK circulation fakes)
but the fact the 'silver' coins in the lot were questionable made me stick to my £11 limit.

I think the UK crowns are real, the rest are all fake.

Yep, I don't even think the Chinese fakers could make money faking UK crowns, not those types anyway !

Did you notice the other listing they had, full of mixed world coins... lots of 'silver teasers' in there but they
all looked like the Chinese coins in the listing above.
